Some Intel® Wireless Gateway units, with version 2.0 firmware, will intermittently stop passing data on the wireless side. The wired side is not affected. A power off, power on, recycle will restore operation. The problem is most pronounced under heavy data traffic loads and/or when first connecting to the Intel Wireless Gateway (especially with WEP enabled).
Version 2.4 firmware corrects this situation. It is recommended that all Intel Wireless Gateway units be updated to this version of the firmware.
This firmware version also adds Windows* XP compatibility and a Gateway Only mode.
How to determine the current firmware version of your Intel Wireless Gateway:
In the Web browser user interface, click on the Device Information tab - the current firmware version is display in the lower right corner of the display.
You may download the version 2.4 firmware update here.
- After downloading the firmware update, double-click on the downloaded file to install the firmware on your local hard drive.

- From the IWG's Web UI, select System Tools.

- Select Upgrade Firmware on the left side of the browser screen.

- Locate the downloaded firmware file (default location c:\Intel_IWG\firmware), and then double-click file named Wi686. The firmware file is displayed in the Firmware Upgrade file box.

- Click Start. The firmware update process begins and takes a few minutes. The status light flashes and the unit restarts. The Device Information tab should reflect the new firmware version number.
