Symptom(s):
Reduced battery run time could be experienced when not connected to a power outlet (AC power) if using the default Microsoft* Windows Vista* power settings.

Cause:
The default power settings for Microsoft Windows Vista use Continuously Aware Mode (CAM) for both AC power or DC (battery) power.  This means that the wireless radio is always on and consumes more power.

Solution:
Use Microsoft Windows Vista to optimize the power settings.

1. Click Start.
2. Click Control Panel.
3. Click System and Maintenance.
4. Click Power Options.
5. Select Balanced then click Change plan settings directly below the Balanced option.
   
   
   
6. Click Change advanced power settings. Balanced [Active] should automatically show in the dropdown box.
7. Click the + symbol in front of Wireless Adapter Settings to expand the section.
8. Click the + symbol in front of Power Savings Mode to expand the section.
9. Select Medium Power Saving or Maximum Power Savings for the On Battery setting.
