Symptom(s):
Updating to the Xircom version 1.10 Bluetooth software removes the previous Dial-Up Networking* Profile.
Solution:
These instructions may be applied to other Bluetooth phones, however the phones' menus and prompts may be different. Please consult the phone manufacturer's documentation for further instructions.
1) Install the Xircom® Bluetooth adapter and software on your system.
2) Within Windows Explorer* expand the My Bluetooth Places folder.
3) On the Ericsson* R520 phone, go to the menu labeled Extras and press the "Yes" button. Scroll down to the Bluetooth options. Press "Yes", select the "Discoverable" option, and press "Yes" again.
4) In Windows Explorer, right-click on the "New" folder under My Bluetooth Places and select "Discover All".
5) The Ericsson phone should now be listed as a new device.
6) Close the "Refresh Complete" box.
7) Right-click your machine listing under My Bluetooth Places and select "Discoverable".
8) On the Ericsson phone, go back to the Bluetooth options and select "Discover". The Ericsson phone should find the Xircom Bluetooth adapter.
9) With the Xircom device highlighted, press "Yes" on the Ericsson phone. Press "Yes" when prompted to "Add to paired devices?"
10) A Passkey prompt will appear. Enter a 4-digit code on the Ericsson phone and press "Yes".
11) A Passkey prompt will show in a pop-up window on your laptop. Enter the same value as entered on the phone and click "OK".
12) If the "Discoverable" window is still showing in the Bluetooth Utility on the laptop, select "Cancel" to close the screen. This will have closed automatically if 2 minutes have passed.
13) Expand the Ericsson phone in the Windows Explorer "New" folder. Right-click on the Dial-Up Networking profile and select "Connect". Follow the screen prompts to complete the profile connection.
14) The Ericsson phone will now appear in the Known folder within My Bluetooth Places.
Note: If you wish to choose multiple services after choosing and connecting to the Dial-Up Networking service, select the Ericsson device under Known Devices in My Bluetooth Places, select the additional service(s) in the right-hand window and choose "Connect".
15) Create a new Windows Dial-Up Networking Connection, choosing the Xircom Bluetooth Modem Interface as the "Device".
